FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES
Nazareth Area School Board member Chris Miller wants more local history brought back into the classroom.
Miller brought up the topic during Monday’s school board meeting under "new business" when he asked about the pending new Keystone exams. The end-of-course subject-based Keystone exams are replacing the 11th grade Pennsylvania System of School Assessment tests. The first round of the Keystone exams, testing math, biology and English, begin next month and again, in the spring.
PSSAs are used to measure the state's compliance with the federal No Child Left Behind Act, known as adequate yearly progress. Students in third through eighth grade will still take the PSSAs.
