FROM THE MORNING CALL
Like an outfielder tracking a baseball hit to deep center field, Nazareth senior Anthony Gaetaniello sprinted under the descending football and made the catch in-stride for a touchdown. That scene's been replayed numerous times this season for the Blue Eagles.
It was again on Friday night.
Gaetaniello, a wide receiver and cornerback, played a key role in Nazareth's 35-12 rout of East Stroudsburg North in an Eastern Conference Division IV opening-round playoff game at Andrew S. Leh Stadium. He caught seven passes for 108 yards and scored two touchdowns – one coming on a 30-yard reception and another on a 1-yard end around.
Coach Rob Melosky's Blue Eagles (6-5) play at Wyoming Valley West (8-3) next Friday night for the Eastern Conference title. The Spartans, of the Wyoming Valley Conference, advanced to the final with a touchdown in the final 30 seconds to secure a 6-0 win over Emmaus.
