Duke's District Data: Some records on the line in the Northampton-Catty game

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Duke Helm, the District 11 statistician, has offered some numbers to watch for this Turkey Day weekend. Most of his records pertain to the state playoff games upcoming on Saturday, but he has also included some things to look for in the Northampton-Catty and Easton-P'burg Thanksgiving morning tilts. Here's his latest report: Week 12 notes and milestones: Parkland: Parkland's Jarel Elder now has 1,153 yards rushing this year and has scored 21 total td's. Elder has 46 career td's which ties him with Jose Delgado (CC) and Billy Stocker (Wil) on the all-time area list in 42nd place. Tim Baranek needs 16 more yards rushing to reach 1,000 yards for the season and become the first Trojan to rush and pass for 1,000 yards in the same season. Central Catholic: Colin McDermott of Central Catholic rushed for 248 yards to up his District 11 leading total to 2,482 yards. He now owns the single season td record at the school by himself, breaking the tie with Rashonn Drayton. McDermott's career totals stand at 5,662 yards rushing and 76 td's. His yardage total moves him into 4th place all-time in the area, moving him ahead of former Pius X and Lehigh player Eric Rath. McDermott needs 141 yards to go by Austin Scott of Parkland and into 3rd place. Pen Argyl: Mike Racciato of Pen Argyl now has 1,362 yards rushing this year to move up to 6th all-time at the school. He moved ahead of Anthony Graziani, Dylan Evans (jr year), Ed McGinley and Mike Bortz. Racciato now has 22 td's to tie Gil Strunk for 8th place at the school for a single season. With his 42 career td's, he ties Rich Gemmel of Catty, Brian Hahn of Palisades and Jarred Holley of Easton on the area's all-time list. Junior, Mike Depaolo has rushed for 236 yards and scored 5 td's in the 2 playoff games. Catasauqua/Northampton: Zack Bradley of Catasauqua threw for 100 yards and now has 1,935 yards on the season. He needs 87 yards passing to break Jordy Miller's single season school record of 2,021 yards. Teammate's Paryss Marshall and Alex Parker of Catasauqua still have 12 td catches each to co-own the school's single season record. Marshall has 801 yards receiving on 41 catches, while Parker has 675 yards on 34 catches. Ra'Von Burton now has 1,490 rushing yards and still remains in 5th place all-time at the school, 42 yards behind Robert Delgado (1,532 in 2002) and 46 yards behind Devin Malarchik (1,536 in 2008). Nick Cook of Northampton holds the K-Kids single season record for passing yards in a season with 2,007 yards. Cook holds a 13 yard edge over Bradley for career passing yards (2,035-2,022) as both players are juniors. Kyle George holds the single season school record for receiving yards with 908 yards and is tied for the most td catches (9) in a season with Vance Szabo (1993). George has 41 catches this year and needs 2 against Catty to break the single season school record of 42 which is held jointly by Tommy Rohn (1998) and Jeff Pammer (2002). Other: Easton's Brad Wilkins joins the Rover 1,000 yard passing club as he has 1,073 yards entering the Thanksgiving day game vs Phillipsburg. His 14 td passes ties him for 7th place all time at Easton for a single season. Bill Rambo (1978) and Matt Snare (1996) also threw for 14 td's in a season. Pleasant Valley's Brandon Leap ended the season with a school record 2,152 yards passing. Freshman Austyn Borre ended the year with a school record 1,257 yards rushing. Andrew Romeo ended the season with school records for receiving yards (742) and reception td's (12). Sophomore QB Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh ended the year throwing for 1,585 yards and 14 td passes. He fell 52 yards short of his brother's Ty school record. Teammate Jake Del Priore finished with 41 receptions for 750 yards. That puts him in 4th and 2nd place respectively all-time at the school for a single season. Nate Edmonds of Tamaqua threw for 18 touchdown passes this year to break George Kruczek's school record of 16 td's that he set as a junior in 1991. Nazareth's qb Parish Simmons finishes the year with 1,235 yards rushing with 15 td's scored and 1,829 yards passing with 16 td passes. His passing yards and td passes both put him in 4th place at the school for a single season. Teammate Alex Tonnies caught 10 passes vs Wyoming Valley West to end his season with 54 catches for 664 yards. The 54 catches places him in 4th place all-time at Nazareth for a single season. Tonnies career totals are 97 receptions for 1,338 yards. His 97 catches puts him in 3rd place at the school as he moved by Justin Kondikoff (1995-97) who had 93 career receptions. Tonnies yardage places him in 4th place for a career at Nazareth as he moved ahead of Brian Jenson, who had 1,297 yards from 1997-99. Teammate Anthony Gaetaniello ended his only year playing in high school with 35 catches for a team leading 677 yards and a school record 10 td's. Flashback: 7 years ago Anthony decided to go out for football for the first time as a 10 year old on my 95 lb. N.A.A. football team. In 11 games, "Gates" would touch the ball 42 times and net 1,008 yards and score 20 td's. Rushing: 22 for 334 yards and 6 td's, receiving: 10 catches for 319 yards and 8 td's, kick-off returns: 4 for 111 yards and a td, punt returns: 5 for 194 yards and 4 td's, 1 INT for 50 yards and a td. He averaged 23.7 yards per touch. He also threw a pass for 36 yards and had 28 tackles on defense. Gates, who wore a 3-1/2" shoe that year, also kicked an extra point vs Northwestern as a 10 year old. All of that and he ended up second behind Brandon Heimbach, who netted 1,096 yards, scored 21 td's and had 96 tackles.
