Whitehall beats Becahi in basketball; two Youth Legion teams finish second

In what amounted to a Stellar Summer League play-in game, Whitehall edged Bethlehem Catholic 44-42 and will not play Central Catholic when the quarterfinals begin on Thursday night. The Zephyrs-Vikings game is at 6:15 p.m. In Youth (formerly Junior) Legion playoffs, both Lower Macungie and North Parkland finished second in their respective regionals. At Boyertown, Lower Mac put itself in great position by beating Roxborough 7-3 on Tuesday. However, they dropped a pair of games to Yardley/Morrisville on Wednesday, losing 6-5 and 11-4. At Kutztown, North Parkland also lost its last two games. The Buffaloes lost to Red Lion 4-3 on Tuesday and then lost to Spring City 2-0 in the championship game on Wednesday.
