One of the area's all-time best in basketball is a first-time father

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER Pete Lisicky, a member of the Whitehall High and Lehigh Valley Basketball Hall of Fame, is a father for the first time. Lisicky, who became the Zephyrs' all-time leading scorer with 1,974 points, and then went on to set Penn State and Big Ten records with 332 career 3-pointers, became a father on Saturday (Aug. 25) when his wife, Kristin, gave birth to a baby boy. Charles André Lisicky, checked in at 12:28 p.m. on Saturday at 8 pounds, 10 onces, 21.5 inches. The couple lives in Scottsdale, Ariz. Big kudos to Kristin who went through 30 hours of labor before delivering Charles by C-section. Pete was a two-time East Penn Conference MVP and a three-time all-Big Ten selection before going on to a distinguished professional career overseas. But my guess is that Pete doesn't want to be known by any of those basketball labels now. He just wants to be called "Dad." Pete was not just one of the best basketball players I've covered in 31 years as a full-time writer, but he was also one of the very best young people I've covered. I am sure Pete and Kristin will be all-star parents and Charles is one lucky little boy. Best wishes for health and happiness to the entire family.
