ALLENTOWN CITY COUNCIL will conduct a public meeting to take public testimony on the long-term leasing of the city's water and utility system at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, in Council Chambers, 435 Hamilton St., Allentown. Individuals who are unable to attend can submit testimony to the City Clerk's Office, 435 Hamilton St., Allentown, PA 18101 or via email, Michael.Hanlon@allentownpa.gov.
LEHIGH COUNTY SENIOR CENTER, 1633 W. Elm St., Allentown, will offer the following classes: Beginner Line Dancing starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8; and Line Dancing starting at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10. No partner is needed for either class. Register: 610-437-3700.
CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY will hold the fifth annual Wings of Hope butterfly release from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 8, at Cedar Crest College's Butterfly Garden in Allentown. The rain date is 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9. The event, hosted by WFMZ-TV Channel 69 news anchor Rob Vaughn, will feature a noon release of 250 monarch butterflies to honor and remember individuals affected by cancer. The event also will feature curtains decorated with paper butterflies, embedded with wildflower seeds and containing loved ones' names. Individuals may take their butterflies home to plant. The cost is $10 per butterfly. Funds raised benefit the Cancer Support Community's free support and education programs. There will be music, children's crafts and activities, raffles, refreshments and souvenirs. Info: 610-861-7555.
