EAGLES TRADE: LBs Fokou and Lloyd sent to Colts for cornerback

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER The Philadelphia Eagles announced early Thursday night that they have acquired cornerback Kevin Thomas and a conditional seventh-round draft choice in 2013 from the Indianapolis Colts in exchange for linebackers Moise Fokou and Greg Lloyd. Thomas, listed at six-foot and 192 pounds, appeared in nine games (five starts) with the Colts last season, registering 33 tackles and three passes defensed. He was originally a third-round draft choice of the Colts in 2010 but was placed on the Injured Reserve. Thomas played collegiately at USC, where he appeared in 39 career games and totaled 89 tackles, three interceptions, three sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He earned second-team All-Pac 10 honors during his senior campaign. "He's a big corner who can run and when he was with the Colts last year, he was playing a lot of Cover-2," GM Howie Roseman said. "We think he's instinctive and we scouted him at USC and we know he'll come to compete with our other corners. He adds competition to that spot. "It's about adding value and the trade made sense. They were look for some linebackers and we want to see more of our young linebackers. Those guys really didn't have a great opportunity here and it's a win-win situation for us and the Colts and you always look for corners and linemen in this league and we got the opportunity to get another draft pick as well."
