BML, Tri-Co baseball update; and high school basketball's final four includes CCHS, Liberty, Emmaus and, yes, Dieruff

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER We are now down to 10 days before the start of high school fall sports practices, but there's still some stuff left on the summer sports calendar. In local baseball, the Blue Mountain League semifinals continue this weekend. The Easton-Martins Creek series is tied at a game apiece with Game 3 set for Saturday afternoon at Martins Creek and Game 4 scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Easton High School. The other series between Hellertown and Limeport could end Saturday at Dimmick Park. The three-time defending champion Royals are up 2-0 in the best-of-three. The earliest the championship series could start is Tuesday night. In the Tri-Co, the finals are already set between the Northern Yankees and Boyertown Metz. Game 1 is Saturday night at Scherersville, Game 2 is Sunday night in Boyertown. The series is then set to continue Tuesday and possibly Wednesday and Friday if it goes the limit. *********************************************************** In the Stellar Summer High School Boys Basketball League, the semifinals are set for Monday night at Cedar Beach. In case you missed today's agate page in the sports section, Thursday's quarterfinal-round scores were: Liberty 56, Allen 54 ... Must have been a great game. Greg Noack scored 19. Central Catholic 47, Whitehall 44 ... Another good one. Mike Kammerer 16. Emmaus 53, Parkland 48 ... Green Hornets could have used this result in the District 11 semis last winter. Nate Feiertag 20. Dieruff 55, Bangor 42 ... Summer of resurgence continues for Huskies. Matt Riddick scored 13. So, on Court 4 on Monday night in the semis, it will be Central Catholic vs. Emmaus at 6:15 and Dieruff vs. Liberty at 7:15. And that means we will have at least a third different champ from the LVC this summer after Freedom won the Stellar tournament and Parkland won the SportsFest tournament. It bodes well for a very interesting high school hoops season coming up in four months.
