Third annual Andre Reed Celebrity Golf Tournament will bring LeVar Arrington, other former stars to Valley

The former Dieruff High School and Kutztown University football star will again bring lots of former pro athletes to the Lehigh Valley on Sunday/Monday July 15-16. Here's the official release, courtesy of the event's public relations director Jeff Vaughan: Lehigh Valley, PA, June 27, 2012 – Former NFL great Andre Reed announced today he is bringing his annual celebrity golf classic back to his hometown in 2012. The “Andre Reed Celebrity Golf Classic” will be held throughout the Lehigh Valley July 15-16, 2012, to benefit the Andre Reed Foundation with proceeds targeting the Boys & Girls Club of Allentown and the United Way. “This tournament is all about helping kids in need in my hometown,” said Reed. “The fact that the celebrities and sponsors who participate always have a wonderful, memorable time makes it all the more enjoyable to host.” The 2012 tournament will again consist of a Celebrity/Sponsor Cocktail Party and Auction on July 15 followed by the Tournament Pairing Selection Reception. Tickets will again be available for the Celebrity/Sponsor Cocktail Party for non-golfers. Times and locations will be announced shortly. On July 16 the Celebrity Golf Tournament will be held at Lehigh Country Club in Allentown, Pa., beginning with a shotgun start followed by a cocktail reception and dinner. Past celebrity participants include former professional athletes Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Darryl Talley, Eric Dickerson, Kellen Winslow, James Lofton, Sterling Sharpe, Terrell Davis and many more. New celebrities playing this year include former Major League Baseball relief pitcher John Rocker, former Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive tackle Barrett Brooks, former Philadelphia Flyers’ right winger Tim Kerr, former Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Antonio Freeman and former Penn State great LaVar Arrington.
