Audience Up, Ratings Mixed for All-Star Game on Fox- Fox Sports today announced that the total audience for last night’s Major League Baseball All-Star Game reached 27.7 million viewers, up 7% over 2011. The average rating for the game was 6.8, down from 6.9 last year. Fox did reports a bump in ratings for younger viewers, garnering a 4.0 rating among Men 18-34, a +5% bump over last year. Adults 18-34 (+11%, 3.0 vs. 2.7), Adults 18-49 (+3%, 3.2 vs. 3.1) and Adults 25-54 (+3%, 3.8 vs. 3.7) also saw gains.
ESPN to Cover Freeh Report Findings- ESPN’s SportsCenter will have comprehensive coverage of tomorrow’s press conference by Judge Louis Freeh as he discusses his report on ”the investigation into the facts and circumstances of the actions of (Penn State) surrounding the child abuse committed” by Jerry Sandusky. Coverage begins at 9:00a.m. ET with Jeremy Schaap on site. The press conference begins at 10:00p.m. At 3:00p.m. Outside the Lines will expand to one hour and devote the entire show to the Freeh report.
NBC, National Science Foundation Look at Technology Used To Foster Olympic Athletes- NBC Sports, NBC Learn, and the National Science Foundation are creating a series of videos highlighting the engineering that is part of the Olympics, as told by top athletes and engineers. The series is entitled the Science of the Summer Olympics: Engineering in Sports and features a top athlete sharing their sports experiences, paired with perspectives from leading engineers about the technologies that aid the athletes or the mechanics that explain their craft.
ESPN has NASCAR Nationwide Series Race from New Hampshire- ESPN will provide coverage this week of the NASCAR Nationwide Series’ race this Saturday from New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Coverage begins at 2:30p.m. with Allen Bestwick and analysts Rusty Wallace and Andy Petree.
World Championship Boxing This Weekend on HBO- HBO Sports will televise the Super Lightweight championship fight this weekend between Amir Khan and Danny Garcia. Jim Lampley, Max Kellerman and Emanuel Steward will be ringside for the event which begins at 10:00p.m. ET this Saturday.
Sparks/Fever WNBA Action on ESPN- ESPN2 will have WNBA action tomorrow night as the Los Angeles Sparks take on the Indiana Fever. Action begins at 7:00p.m. with Pam Ward and Carolyn Peck on the call. The league will be taking a break for the Olympics. ESPN’s next WNBA will not be until August 21st when the Minnesota Lynx travels to Seattle to take on the Storm.
