Gov. Tom Corbett signs new state budget minutes before deadline

http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/breaking-news/index.ssf/2012/07/gov_tom_corbett_signs_new_stat.html FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett has signed a new state budget. Corbett signed the $27.7 billion budget in the Capitol rotunda just minutes before the 2011-12 fiscal year expired at midnight Saturday. The budget included legislation that would stop Allentown from collecting other municipalities’ earned income taxes for its hockey arena. Members of the House and Senate worked late into the night Saturday to approve all the legislation that must accompany the general appropriations bill that was passed Friday. The signing ceremony came after lawmakers overwhelmingly approved the Republican governor's biggest legislative priority, tax credits to entice the construction of a new petrochemical refinery.
