FROM THE MORNING CALL
LEHIGH COUNTY
MUHLENBERG COLLEGE, Seegers Union, Chew Street, Allentown, will be the site of a town hall to educate Lehigh Valley voters about the new voter ID law at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. The free event comes in the wake of the disclosure by the Pennsylvania Department of State that almost 759,000 registered voters — 31,000 from the Lehigh Valley — do not have a PennDOT-issued driver's license or state-issued non-driver ID. Those voters are at risk of being unable to vote in the November election. Voters will learn which IDs are acceptable and how to get a free PennDOT ID. The event is sponsored by the ACLU of Pennsylvania Greater Lehigh Valley Chapter, Allentown NAACP, Equality Pennsylvania, and Martin Luther & Coretta Scott King Memorial Project of the Lehigh Valley Inc. For information, see http://www.aclupa.org/events/voteridtownhall.htm.
LOWER MACUNGIE LIBRARY, 3450 Brookside Road, Lower Macungie Township, will host a performance by entertainer Claude "Shep" Shappelle at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. Individuals are invited to dance and sing along to classic tunes. Light refreshments will be served. The free program is part of the library's Adult Summer Reading Club. Register: 610-966-6864.
ALBURTIS LOCKRIDGE HISTORICAL SOCIETY MUSEUM, 407 Franklin St., Alburtis, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. Info: 484-366-9987.
