Bath executes at right times, rallies past Nazareth

http://www.mcall.com/sports/varsity/mc-nazareth-bath-american-legion-0716-20120717,0,3782487.story FROM THE MORNING CALL There were two balls thrown away, another booted and one lost in the sun. There were four walks and a hit batter. It added up to a messy first four-and-one-half innings for Northampton County American Legion regular-season champion Bath. "We usually play solid [defense]," manager Gene Sostarecz said. "Some of it, I think, was jitters playing in the championship series." What Bath did the rest of the game, however, made up for the miscues. Winning pitcher Jimmy Sawyer tripled in the tying run and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the home fifth, then watched as his teammates executed the defensive play of the game in the top of the sixth. Nazareth's Mike Garzillo smacked a Sawyer offering over the head of left fielder Jake Tone. Garzillo opted to try for an inside-the-park home run instead of a standup triple with no outs and his team down by a run.
