Nazareth Area High School baseball team drops state playoff game to Hatboro-Horsham

Casey Saverio's RBI infield single with two outs in the seventh inning today lifted Hatboro-Horsham High School's baseball team to a 5-4 victory over Nazareth in a PIAA Class AAAA first round playoff game at Parkland High School.
The Hatters (21-4), the third seed from District 1, advances to Thursday's state quarterfinals against Wyoming Valley West.
Hatboro-Horsham grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning off Nazareth starter Dan Shepherd. The District 11 champion Blue Eagles, who finish 21-5, rallied for three in the third and one in the fifth to take a 4-3 lead.
Dave Warner's two-run single capped the third-inning rally off winning pitcher Casey O'Donnell, who allowed five hits and struck out 11. Billy Deutsch's RBI double in the fifth inning gave Nazareth its short-lived lead.
Hatboro-Horsham tied it 4-4 in the sixth inning when Saverio stole home on the back end of a double steal. With the bases loaded, Saverio slapped an 0-2 pitch into the shortstop hole to produce the game-winner.
