Moravian's softball team headed to Union, N.J., for NCAA Regional

The Greyhounds, fresh off another Landmark Conference championship, are headed to Union, N.J. Here are the details courtesy of a Mark Fleming-issued release: The Moravian College softball team is seeded second and headed to the Union, N. J. Regional begin hosted by Kean University for the 2012 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament with the regional set to begin on Thursday, May 10th. The Greyhounds will take on seventh seeded Centenary (N.J.) College (26-14), the champion of the Colonial States Athletic Conference in their opening game Thursday, the fourth and final game of the day at a time to be announced. Moravian is 32-9 and won its fifth straight Landmark Conference Championship on Saturday. The Greyhounds are in the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 14th time in 15 years and have won 13 consecutive conference titles. Moravian has a record of 32-27 in the NCAA Tournament with three trips to the NCAA Division World Series in 2004, 2007 and 2010. Thursday's other first round games will feature top seed and at-large selection Montclair State University (38-7) taking on eighth seed Baruch (N.Y.) College (17-25), the College University of New York Conference champion, fifth seed Alvernia University (36-9), the Commonwealth Conference champion, playing at-large selection The College of New Jersey (25-15) and third seed and New Jersey Athletic Conference champion Rowan University (36-7) playing sixth seed and Freedom Conference champion Misericordia University (28-15).
