ESPN Taking X Games Global

http://sportsmediajournal.com/ ESPN announced today that beginning in 2013 X Games competitions will expand into Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil; Munich, Germany and Barcelona, Spain, making the event more global in nature. The X Games are currently being competed in Aspen, CO, Los Angeles, and Tignes, France. The three communities were part of a bidding process to expand the games. Each will be working with the X Games organizers on a program for the next three years. “ESPN has been committed to the X Games franchise for nearly two decades and is incredibly excited for the future and this new endeavor,” said John Skipper, president, ESPN and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks in a press rlease. “We are bringing significant focus to this expansion because we believe in the universal appeal of these sports and competitors and want to share the X Games experience with fans around the world.” Here is the tentative X Games 2013 schedule: Aspen, Colo., USA: January 24-27 Tignes, France: March 20-22 Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil: April 18-21 Barcelona, Spain: May 9-12 Munich, Germany: June 27-30 Los Angeles, Calif., USA: August 1-4
