Pen Argyl took advantage of three Saucon Valley errors to score five unearned runs and held off the Panthers for a 6-3 win on Friday in Wind Gap in a battle of Colonial League division leaders.
The North Division leading Green Knights, who play perennial Berks County and District 3 power Brandywine at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pates Park, remained the area's lone unbeaten at 11-0 overall, 9-0 in the league.
Saucon Valley, in sole possession of first place in the Colonial's South Division at the start of the day, fell to 7-2 in the league and 9-3 overall.
An error opened the door to a four-run second inning by the Green Knights that included a run-scoring single by Olivia Smith and a three-run triple by freshman Alyssa Weaver (2-for-4).
Two more errors led to another Pen Argyl run in the third and Samm Firestone singled in a run in the fourth for the Green Knights.
Saucon Valley took advantage of a throwing error by winning pitcher Emily Smull to score three runs in the fifth when Shannon Petsch (2-for-4) had a RBI triple.
But Smull, who stopped Saucon on six hits, stranded two runners in the fifth innrhing and had minimal trouble in the final two innings.
