FROM KEITH GROLLER

It was a split in Atlantic City on Friday night for our two Lehigh Valley MMA fighters participating on a Bellator Fighting Championships card at the Boardwalk Hall.

According to various Internet reports, Heckman, a Bangor product, defeated Lester Caslow by submission in 3:40 in the first round.

It was Heckman's first fight since November and improved his record to 10-3.

Zach Makovsky, a Bethlehem Catholic product, wasn't as fortunate.

Eduardo Dantas of Brazil spoiled Makovsky's first defense of his bantamweight title. According to a USA Today report, referee Keith Peterson stopped the fight 3:26 into the second round when Makovsky went unconscious from Dantas' head-and-arm choke.

Makovsky fell to 14-3.
