Look back at LV Sports Hall of Fame banquet; plus updated high school softball standings

http://blogs.mcall.com/groller/ FROM KEITH GROLLER On Saturday night I emceed the third annual Lehigh Valley Sports Hall of Fame banquet at the Northampton Community Center. Amazingly we had four special speeches and did more than 20 HOF presentations in an hour and a half. Some people may think I did the MC duties just for a free dinner (I do love the family style roast beef, chicken, filling etc. that the Northampton CC is famous for), but I actually did it because I got a chance to express my appreciation and admiration for several of the inductees. In particular I was delighted to be able to present Bill and Bob Mlkvy; Bill Pensyl, Dean and Denton Lakatosh, Ted Wieand, Gene Waas, my first favorite softball player Kelly Gallagher, the ever-courageous Brett Snyder and the late John Kunda. Other honorees were: Carol Mahoney (Dale Horn Most Valuable Volunteer) Dick James (Parkland baseball) Doug Brown (Saucon Valley basketball) Dale Horn (Mr. Hokey Playground) Alita Zabrecky (Southern Lehigh/Muhlenberg) Pedro Pete Solivan (body building) Wille "Fireball" Rodriguez (boxing) Art Baylis (boxing) Joe Straka (boxing) Art Statum (boxing) Mayor Joe Rosado (Bethlehem Boxing Club) Chris Drayton (LV Steelers) Ed Scholl (Event Organizer) Kenny Schroy (Quakertown, Maryland, NFL) Dr. George Arangio (Phillipsburg Cath/Cornell) Greg Gristick (Kutztown U, youth coach) Hokey AA (organization) Nick Callie (Easton men's fastpitch) Casey's Place Quakertown (sponsor) Mike Caruso (three-time NCAA wrestling champ at Lehigh) It was a terrific collection of people, all great representatives of the Lehigh Valley sports community and I was honored to be able to pay tribute to them. ***************** HIGH SCHOOL STANDINGS LEHIGH VALLEY CONFERENCE WEST DIVISION Team LVC All 1. Often known as shoe lifts or shoe inserts, these inserts may be made from a range of supplies such as flexible plastic, difficult foam, or a mixture of the two supplies
