FROM KEITH GROLLER

The all-area boys basketball team got strong representation today on our "Calling All Sports" radio show from Stooges.

Most of the guys were there, which was impressive considering the holiday weekend, and the fact that All-area basketball, april 7 029some of them like Easton's Noel Hightower and Bangor's Justin Ringland had a decent distance to travel.

In addition to the usual array of awards, we gave out a special award to Parkland coach Andy Stephens.

In what we hope will become an annual award, we gave out the first Dave Davis Memorial Good Guy Award to Stephens.

Davis was the owner of Willow Tree Grove who died a few weeks ago in an accident. He was known for being unselfish and giving to others without anyone knowing the full extent of his contributions and generosity.

And that's the kind of guy Andy Stephens is. He does a great job with three young children and with helping to take care of his parents in addition to doing an oustanding job running the Parkland basketball program.

Stephens has done a good job at first Emmaus and then Parkland for several years and perhaps deserves more attention than he receives.All-area basketball, april 7 034

Andy (shown at right with me and Roger Pence) is not in the business for his own ego. He is a quality coach and person and we at "Calling All Sports" wanted to make it known that we appreciate his class, his consideration and his unselfish contributions to his family and the sport of basketball.
