Shafer Elementary School pupils have raised $6,000 to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
During a three-week period in the school year, students in grades first through 12th nationally have participated in the Pasta for Pennies program, which is sponsored by local Olive Garden restaurants. The goal in the program is to donate spare change in jars placed in classrooms.
