The new Sands Bethlehem Event Center will host a boxing card June 1 that will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network, according to a news release.
The fights are the first sports event announced for the new center near the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem, which is scheduled to open May 16. Ticket information will be released soon, according to the release.
Headlining the boxing card will be a 10-round junior middleweight fight between "King" Gabriel Rosado of Philadelphia and Miami's Joel Julio, known as "The Love Child." The matches will air 9 to 11 p.m. on the network's "Fight Night" boxing series.
"The January show got our 'Fight Night' series off to a great start and that was highlighted by the tremendous performance of junior middleweight Gabriel Rosado," Gary Quinn senior director of programming and acquisitions for NBC Sports Group, said in a news release. "We added this date to give boxing fans a chance to see Rosado in the main event as he takes the next step towards becoming a serious contender."
Also fighting on the card will be undefeated Bethlehem welterweight prospect Ronald Cruz in the 10-round co-feature bout. Cruz is rated number 15 by the International Boxing Federation.
His opponent will be announced soon, along with the show's full slate of supporting bouts, NBC Sports Network said in the release.
