Ed Hozza, Jr., the mayor of Whitehall Township, has informed me that Curt Simmons' wife, the former Dorothy Ludwig, has passed away.
Mrs. Ludwig, who lived near the entrance to Egypt Memorial Park and across the street from where Curt lived when he was growing up, had not been well for sometime. The two were childhood sweethearts and married for more than 60 years.
No funeral info has been announced.
Simmons, the former Major League pitcher with the Phillies, Cardinals, Cubs and Angels, was to be inducted into the Lehigh County Hall of Fame on Saturday at the Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds and will be honored at the park on Saturday, June 2 when the baseball field will be re-dedicated in his honor and he will be the grand marshal of a parade down Main Street.
Our prayers go out to Curt and the entire family.
