CENTER FOR HUMANISTIC CHANGE, Bethlehem needs a volunteer program assistant to provide a service essential of our programs. Duties include grading pre- and post-tests for various classes using an answer key, tabulate results using a provided tally sheet, generate an Excel spreadsheet to show results for each county. CIVIC THEATRE OF ALLENTOWN needs ushers for live performances to work concessions or greet people as they enter. Ushers for movies are needed to take or sell tickets at the door or work concessions. Lobbying DIAKON HOSPICE ST. JOHN, Allentown needs volunteers willing to lend a hand or a hug or silently give comfort to our terminally ill patients and their families. Some ways you can help include reading to a patient or giving respite to caregivers. Training will be provided. Contact: Karen Kinn, 610-391-2307.
FAMILY ANSWERS/COMPEER PROGRAM, Allentown needs volunteers for one-on-one matches with Compeer members in Lehigh and Northampton counties. Volunteers are asked for one hour per week, and a one year commitment. Matches do community activities that they find enjoyable. Choice of activity is made by each match. Volunteers select the day, date, and time for these activities. Training is offered once a month in a group setting usually on a Saturday. Individual training may be scheduled, if necessary. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age. Contact: Susan McNamara, 610-782-0361.
MORAVIAN HISTORICAL SOCIETY, Nazareth needs volunteers to greet guests and provide tours of the Whitefield House museum in Nazareth. Helpers are also needed in the Book Shop and for various office tasks. Varied and flexible hours are available daily. Training provided. Minimum age: 16. Contact: Megan vanRavenswaay, 610-759-5070.
ST. LUKE'S HOSPITAL, Allentown needs volunteers in its Gift Shop 3-6 p.m. Mondays and Fridays; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays to greet customers and to help straighten and restock merchandise. Also a greeter in the East and South Lobby is needed to guide patients and visitors to various areas of the hospital. Hours are: 8 a.m. to noon Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Friday. Contact: Sandy Wambold, 610-628-8495.
