This could be the day a lot of Patriot League football fans have been waiting for

FROM KEITH GROLLER

The Patriot League has announced a 4 p.m. teleconference with what it calls a "significant announcement" regarding football.

Although there is no indication of what it's about -- to me, it can only mean one thing for the league, SCHOLARSHIPS ARE COMING!

The whole discussion on scholarships was tabled for up to two years back in December of 2010, but it has taken less than two years for the league presidents to get together and find consensus on this important issue.

I've been told they wanted to wait until the 2012 recruiting class was announced before they made this announcement. Lehigh made their list available just last week.

If you care about Lehigh or Lafayette football, this is good news because now the Mountain Hawks and Leopards can legitimately compete for national championships at the FCS level.

If this is not about scholarships, I will be very surprised and disappointed, as would many others.

Again, the teleconference begins at 4.
