Sports Media Digest- February 2, 2012

Fox Airs Premier League Power Match Sunday- To get ready for the big game here in the states, Fox Sports will provide live coverage of the English Premier League match between power houses Chelsea and Manchester United. Coverage starts at 10:30am ET with with Rob Stone, FOX Soccer analyst Eric Wynalda and CNN talk show host Piers Morgan.

PGA Tour On CBS This Weekend- CBS will have coverage of this week’s stop of the PGA Tour. The Waste Management Phoenix Open will air on CBS both Saturday and Sunday at 3:00p.m. ET. Jim Nantz, and Nick Faldo will spearhead the call with Ian Baker-Finch, Gary McCord , David Feherty and Peter Kostis.

CBS Has Two College Hoops Contests Featuring Top 25 Teams- CBS has college basketball games this Saturday and Sunday, with each featuring clubs in the current top 25. Saturday at 1:00p.m. ET the network will have regional action with Tim Brando and Bill Raftery calling #25 Vanderbilt at #12 Florida. The other regional game will feature #15 Marquette at Notre Dame with Kevin Harlan and Greg Anthony at the mic. Sunday at 1:00p.m. ET Verne Lundquist and Clark Kellogg will call #23 Michigan at #9 Michigan State.

CBS Sports Net Has Three College Hoops Game on Saturday- CBS Sports Network will telecast three college basketball games this Saturday. The action tips-off with a women’s doubleheader beginning with Saint Joseph’s at Richmond at 1:00p.m. ET. Jason Knapp and Brenda VanLengen will announce the action. San Diego State-TCU follows at 3:00 p.m. ET with Brent Stover and Tammy Blackburn on the mic. Air Force and Colorado State wraps up the day at 5:00p.m. ET). James Bates and Steve Lappas handle the call.

Boxing Headline Twin Bill on HBO- HBO Sports will get back to live boxing this weekend with a headline double header. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. vs. Marco Antonio Rubio and Nonito Donaire vs. Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. will air live Saturday, February 4th at 10:00 p.m. ET. Jim Lampley, Larry Merchant and Emanuel Steward will call the action.

ESPN Sets Plan for Black History Month- ESPN is planning over 150 hours of programming across its platforms in celebration of Black History Month. The highlight will be a documentary of Reece “Goose” Tatum and his time playing for the Harlem Globetrotters. That documentary will air February 26th at 10:00p.m. ET on ESPN. Tennis Channel has U.S. in Fed Cup Action This Weekend- The Tennis Channel will provide live coverage of the U.S. Women’s Fed Cup team in it’s first round matches against Belarus. Coverage begins 1:00p.m. ET Saturday and 12:00p.m. ET Sunday.

Supercross Returns to CBS on Sunday- CBS will once again provide coverage of Supercross this Sunday. The Monster Energy AMA Supercross will air Sunday at 12:00p.m. ET. Ralph Sheheen, Jeff Emig and Erin Bates will be on the call.
