Nazareth police officer injured during response to home

A Nazareth police officer today received treatment for minor injures as he attempted to arrest a woman during in a domestic violence response, Police Chief Thomas Trachta said.

Trachta declined to identify the officer, but said he suffered lacerations to his left hand as he attempted to place Leetha Parthree, 45, no address provided, in handcuffs. The officer had been working alone and received back-up assistance from Upper Nazareth and Bushkill townships' police during the afternoon altercation.

Parthree is accused of trying to get into the house of her boyfriend, David Gosnell Sr., 50, who lives at the 700 block of Heckman Avenue, after Gosnell asked her to leave, police said. She is being charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Parthree was arraigned today before District Judge John Capobianco and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $7,500 bail.


The officer was treated on Heckman Avenue by medics and returned to work, Trachta said.
