The Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) will air taped coverage statewide of the Funeral Mass for the Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua on Wednesday, February 8
beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The Solemn Funeral Mass for Cardinal Bevilacqua is scheduled to take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7 at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.
A native of Brooklyn, New York, Bevilacqua came to Pennsylvania as a church leader in the early 1980’s after Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. He served the Pittsburgh diocese until his appointment as Archbishop of Philadelphia in 1987. For more than 15 years, Cardinal
Bevilacqua led the Archdiocese of Philadelphia until his retirement in 2003. In 1991, he was elevated to the College of Cardinals.
Cardinal Bevilacqua passed away on January 31 at the age of 88.
