Another win for the gold standard in Pennsylvania boys basketball

FROM KEITH GROLLER

Learned from Dave Burman on Facebook that Chester High senior Erikk Wright, Jr., scored his 1,000 point tonight as Chester beat Neptune in North Jersey tonight, 78-62, to end the regular season at 22-0 and give the Clippers an amazing 48th straight victory.
Wright becomes the program's 27th 1,000-point, a staggering total in itself.
Chester, which is ranked No. 5 in the nation by MaxPreps, is off to its best start in more than 40 years and seems headed to its second straight PIAA crown and eighth overall.
However, I learned in an article by Joseph Santoliquito on MaxPreps.com that the entire school district is in a major financial crisis and had to borrow $3.2-million in mid-J
anuary from the state of Pennsylvania to keep the schools open at least until March.
The Clippers bid for state gold could be jeopardized more by the financial strife than any opponent they will face over the next six weeks, and that's sad.
Here's a link to Santoliquito's insightful story, and thanks to my radio co-host Roger Pence for bringing it to my attention:
