Sports Media Digest- January 12, 2012

Here is our digest for today…

TNT Preps for MLK Day Double Header- TNT has schedule a special NBA double header for this Monday, the holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The opener begins at 8:00p.m. ET as the Oklahoma City Thunder travel to Boston to take on the Celtics. Kevin Harlan, Mike Fratello, and Chris Webber have the call. Marv Albert, Steve Kerr, and Reggie Miller will be on the mic for the nightcap at 10:30p.m. ET as the Los Angeles Lakers host the Dallas Mavericks.

College Hoops Action on CBS- Just prior to this Saturday’s AFC Playoff match-up, CBS will feature a college basketball battle between Oregon and Arizona. Ian Eagle and Greg Anthony will have the call. Tip-off is at 3:30p.m. ET. On Sunday Verne Lundquist and Clark Kellogg will be on the mic for a top ten battle between #5 Ohio State and #7 Indiana beginning at 4:30p.m. ET.

NBC Sports Network Has Top 25 Mountain West Match-up Saturday- NBC Sports Network will have live coverage of the Mountain West battle between #12 UNLV and #22 San Diego State. Coverage begins at 4:00p.m. ET with Steve Schlanger and Blaine Fowler on the call.

CBS Sports Network has Five College Hoop Games Saturday- CBS Sports Network features a slate of five college basketball games this Saturday, beginning with a men’s and women’s doubleheader between Army and Navy. Bob Socci and Leah Secondo announce the women’s game at 12:00p.m. ET while Socci is joined by Vince Curran and guest analyst Reggie Miller for the men’s game at 2:30p.m. ET. Women’s basketball tips-off at 4:30p.m. ET, with Colorado State at TCU. Brent Stover and Tammy Blackburn announce. Atlantic-10 foes Temple and Richmond square-off at 7:00p.m ET with Tom McCarthy and Steve Lappas on hand. James Bates and Pete Gillen handle the call of Memphis at Houston at 9:00p.m. ET.

NFLA Player of the Year Awards to Air on NFL Network- The NFL Network has announced that it will air the 2012 NFL Alumni Player of the Year Award for the first time on Monday, February 6th at 10:00p.m. ET. The show will take place on Friday February 3rd in Indianapolis. In its 30th year the awards were created so that retired NFL players could recognize and vote for the outstanding achievements of their present-day counterparts.

NBC Unveils Announces for New Fight Night Program- NBC Sports Group has announced that announder Kenny Rice will be joined by boxing trainer Freddie Roach and cruiserweight contender B.J. Flores for its new Fight Night series. The program debuts on NBC Sports Network January 21st at 9:00p.m. ET.

Skating Returns to NBC Sunday- NBC is set to air Improv-Ice, a skating competition where competitors will choreograph their own improvisational skating routines. The program will air at 4:00p.m. ET Sunday.

PBR on CBS Sports Network- Professional Bull Riders (PBR) will hold its next event on the CBS Sports Network. The Anaheim Invitational will air Sunday at 6:00p.m. ET.
