Lehigh Valley Wine Trail announces 2012 events

It is time to break out the wine glasses.

The eight participating wineries in the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail have announced the following 2012 events:

March Madness, weekends in March: Customers can purchase $35 March Madness passports for access to wine and food pairings at each participating winery, according to a news release.


•Wine in Bloom, May 19 and 20: Celebrate the importance of soil in wine production and development of grapes, including flavor and taste, according to the release.
•Wine on the Mountain, July 28 and 29, Penn's Peak, Jim Thorpe, Pa.: Enjoy wine samples, light fare and live entertainment. While you're there, view locally created art and crafts. Tickets are required and can be purchases at participating wineries.
•Harvest Weekend - The Butcher, The Baker and The Winemaker, Sept. 8 and 9: Participate in two days of wine pairings, vineyard tours, food, music and more.
•Chambourcin Weekend, Oct. 20 and 21: Wineries will tip their glasses to the Chambourcin grape -- the "official wine grape of the Lehigh Valley" and only wine grape grown by all eight wineries, according to the release.
•Noveau Weekend, Nov. 17 and 18: Taste the first vintages of the recent harvest.
Participating wineries are: Amore Vineyards & Winery, East Allen Township; Big Creek Vineyard and Winery, Kresgeville, Pa.; Blue Mountain Vineyards, New Triopli, Pa.; Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery, Breinigsville, Pa.; Franklin Hill Vineyards, Lower Mount Bethel Township; Galen Glen Vineyard & Winery, Andreas, Pa.; Pinnacle Ridge, Kutztown, Pa.; and Vynecrest Winery, Upper Macungie Township.

Event hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays, according to the release.
