Schneider lends a helping hand to Miracle League groundbreaking

FROM KEITH GROLLER

The Miracle League of Northampton County held a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday morning at the Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township.

The Miracle League is a specially-designed baseball field that allows kids in wheelchairs and with physical and developmental disabilities to play baseball.

This would be our area's second Miracle League facility, joining the one in Heidelberg Township, and to me, if they had 10 or 12, there wouldn't be enough because these are places of absolute joy.

And it took a team effort from the community -- including the business world, athletic associations, the Easton Rotary club, etc. to make it happen.

Brian Schneider, the Northampton High grad who is the Phillies backup catcher, is the honorary chairman for The Miracle League of Northampton County and as part of today's ceremony, it was revealed that Schneider and his charitable foundation have donated an additional $10,000 to fund the project after helping to get things started with a $10,000 gift.

We'll have much more on this in tomorrrow's paper.
