The first state boys basketball polls of the year are out and despite the high expectations at Freedom, Emmaus, Pocono Mountain West and other places, Central Catholic was the only Lehigh Valley-area team to crack the first Harrisburg Patriot-News rankings of the season.
The Vikings are rated No. 9 in Class AAA.
The only other District 11 team to get a mention was Pine Grove at No. 9 in 2A.
Just as is the case in football, much of the power seems to be coming from the southeast corner of the state -- Districts 1 and 12.
Chester, which won the Stellar tournament this summer at Cedar Beach, is ranked No. 1 in 4A,
Neumann-Goretti is ranked No. 1 in 3A; Imhotep Charter is rated No. 1 in 2A and Constitution tops the list in Class A.
Chester, Neumann-Goretti and Imhotep are all defending state champs.
