Five members of the Bethlehem Catholic wrestling team survived the first day of action in the grueling Walsh Jesuit Ironman Tournament in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.
Darian Cruz (3-0 at 106), Zeke Moisey (3-0 at 113), Randy Cruz (3-0 at 132), Elliott Riddick (3-0 at 170) and Josh Alpha (1-0 at 195) all advance to the quarterfinal round on Saturday morning.
The remaining Golden Hawk wrestlers were eliminated during the consolation round in what is billed by some as "The Toughest Tournament in the Nation."
Bethlehem Catholic currently sits in 10th place in the 72 team field with 56 points. Blair Academy leads the way with 93.5.
