7-Eleven in Upper Nazareth Township robbed

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

A man armed with a knife robbed the 7-Eleven in Upper Nazareth Township early Tuesday morning, taking cash and cigarettes, police said.

The man went into the East Lawn Road store about 1:15 a.m., jumped over the counter and told the clerk to put the money from the register into a bag, police said. The robber told the male clerk he would not hurt him, but brandished a knife, police said.

The robber, who also grabbed several packs of Newport cigarettes, ordered the clerk into the back office, but the door was locked so the robber ran away, police said.

An exact amount of money stolen was not available. No injuries were reported. The clerk was the only person in the store at the time, police said.

The robber is described as white, about 6 feet 1 inch tall and about 180 pounds. He was wearing a white scarf on his face, a black hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, black boots and black gloves, police said. Police are obtaining video surveillance of the holdup.
