Penn State football coach Joe Paterno's scheduled 12:30 news conference this afternoon was canceled by university President Graham Spanier, according to the Patriot-News of Harrisburg.
The Associated Press has since confirmed the cancellation.
Paterno said he was disappointed his weekly news conference was canceled, according to the Patriot-News, and said he was not consulted by Spanier before the decision was made.
It was to be Paterno's first public comment since former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky was charged with molesting boys over a 15-year period and two university administrations were charged with not reporting the alleged abuse and lying to a grand jury.
