Lafayette College football team wins wild overtime game over Colgate University

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Lafayette College's Darius Safford intercepted a Gavin McCarney pass in the end zone in the first overtime and returned it for a touchdown as the Leopards rallied for a 37-24 win over Colgate University.

The Leopards (4-5, 1-2 Patriot League) kept their hopes for a winning season alive with the win.

Lafayette had rallied from a 24-17 fourth-quarter deficit with an eight-yard TD pass from Andrew Shoop (21-for-34, 262 yards, 2 TDs) to senior wideout Kyle Hayes (7 catches, 124 yards) with 30 seconds to play.

Lafayette scored on its OT possession when sophomore wide receiver Mark Ross made a circus catch in the end zone from 14 yards out, and then Safford's pick sealed the Leopards' first league win of 2011 and kept Colgate (4-6, 0-4) winless in the league.
