Tatamy council race has five candidates, four seats

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

A challenger seeks to unseat one of four incumbents vying for seats on Tatamy Borough Council.

Republican Stuart J. Albert and Democrats Chris Moren, William F. Belkey and William H. Keifer Jr. all seek re-election. They face a challenge from Pam Pearson, a Democrat who garnered enough write-in Republican votes to appear on both sides of the fall ballot.

Albert is council vice president and has served on the panel for the past 12 years. He’s retired from his job as a union pipefitter.

“I was born and raised in this town,” Albert said. “It’s been good to me and my family. I’d just like to give back.”

Albert declined to say his age. He also serves as recording secretary for the borough fire company. He said the borough remains in good fiscal shape.

Moren, the council president, is wrapping up his first four-year term. The 45-year-old works for an IT services data center and hosting company.

He’s keeping an eye on the proposed Chrin Commerce Center and a proposed interchange to Route 33 outside the borough.

“That’s going to become a huge project,” he said. “We have to make sure we manage it wisely.”

Moren also wants to develop a better public safety website.

Pearson, 51, serves on the borough zoning hearing board and is an alternate for the planning commission.

She’s a manager for customer development for special and exclusive products for Crayola.

“I just felt with my business experience and my education, I’d put myself out there to help Tatamy balance growth and fiscal responsibility,” she said.

She previously served as president of the Crayola employees credit union board and served on the boards for the Children’s Home of Easton and WDIY radio.

Belkey and Keifer did not answer requests for interviews.
