Nazareth Area High School football team rolls to 61-20 win over Pleasant Valley

Nazareth Area High School's football team employed its three-headed monster against the Pleasant Valley Bears tonight at Andrew Leh Stadium.

The results were staggering.

Dan Harding completed 11 of 12 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns and the wide receiver tandem of Andrew and Adam Bridgeforth turned in numerous big plays as the Blue Eagles opened their season with a resounding 61-20 victory at Andrew Leh Stadium.

Harding's only incompletion was a dropped touchdown pass in the end zone by Andrew Bridgeforth.

"The kids executed," Nazareth coach Rob Melosky said. "They did a great job. It's a credit to the hard work they put in during the offseason."

Adam Bridgeforth had a 42-yard touchdown reception, ran for a 2-point conversion, a 47-yard punt return and an interception from his cornerback position.

Andrew Bridgeforth had touchdown catches covering 84 and 45 yards.

The Bridgeforths are twins.

"All three of those guys are scholarship football players," Melosky said. "There's no doubt in my mind."

"We worked had during the offseason to make sure we were on the same page," Andrew Bridgeforth said. "It was practice, practice, practice and it paid off."

Both wide receivers had high praise for Harding.

"He's probably the best quarterback in the league," Adam Bridgeforth said. "It's like a treat."

"I have 100 percent confidence in Dan," Andrew Bridgeforth said. "He throws the ball really, really well."

Harding spoke equally high of the Bridgeforths.

"They both worked hard and prepared well to get to this point," he said. "We just came out (tonight) and started clicking. The running backs did a good job, too. I think we have a well-rounded offense this year."

Senior Kani Camacho paced the running game with 86 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Jordan Gray added 64 yards on the ground and Harding ran for 49 yards and a pair of scores.

Wideout Dan Shepherd caught a 41-yard TD pass and reserve quarterback Parrish Simmons rushed for two TDs.

The offensive line -- led by Nick Tuerk, Aaron Bradley, Dave Wilke, Joe Walsh, Travis Pierson and Brian Brune -- and the defense were also singled out.

"The line deserves so much credit for their protection," Melosky said. "I credit Bill Brong, our offensive line coach and defensive coordinator. Their first string offense didn't score against our first string defense."
