LEHIGH COUNTY

THE SWAIN SCHOOL, 1100 S. 24th St., Allentown, will offer Mandarin Chinese classes for students entering first through fifth grades. Learn Chinese I will be offered 9 a.m. to noon July 18-22 and Learn Chinese II will be held 9 am. to noon Aug. 1-5. The classes will be taught by Bei Wang who was born in China's largest city, Shanghai. Mandarin Chinese is the world's most commonly spoken language. The classes will focus on conversational basics such as numbers, colors and fruit, and they will use a book featuring classical Chinese children's stories and songs. LEHIGH CARBON COMMUNITY COLLEGE will hold Algebra Camp for youths 6:30-8 p.m. July 18-22 at its main campus, Schnecksville. The fee for Algebra I for ages 12 to 15 is $100. FOWLER COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY CENTER, 511 E. Third St., Bethlehem, will offer free computer classes to students in sixth through 12th grades, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays beginning Tuesday through Aug. 11. The program will cover the following: basic computer comprehension, computer hardware and software, operating systems, Microsoft Office, design and editing of video game components, digital photography and editing software, graphic arts and website design, and LEGO robotics. EASTON AREA COMMUNITY CENTER, 901 Washington St., will offer its summer day camp for children, ages 5-15, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through Aug. 19. Breakfast, lunch and a snack will be served. The cost is $25 per week. For information, call 610-253-8271 or email saints1@ptd.net.

BETHLEHEM PARKS AND RECREATION will hold free supervised playgrounds 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays through Aug. 5 at the following playgrounds: Bernie Fritz (Heimpel Park), Elmwood, Friendship, Higbee and Rose Garden. Activities at the playgrounds will include arts and crafts, games, sports activities and swim days. BUCKS COUNTY

BUCKS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION and Friends of the Churchville Nature Center, 501 Churchville Lane, will offer children's nature camps July 5-8. Children, ages 4-9, may attend the following sessions: 10 a.m.-noon, 1-3 p.m. or 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Children, ages 10-12, may attend 10 a.m.-3 p.m. The cost per half-day session is $68; $60 for members. RIVER VALLEY WALDORF SCHOOL, 1395 Bridgeton Hill Road, Upper Black Eddy, will offer the following summer camps during the weeks of July 11 and 18: Early Childhood Camp for ages 3-6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. (with extended care until 3:30 p.m.); Old-Fashioned Summer Camp for children in first through third grades, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m.; and River Union Stage Drama Camp for children in fourth through sixth grades, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. To register, 610-982-5606.

CARBON AND MONROE COUNTIES

MONROE COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER, 8050 Running Valley Road, Hamilton Township, will offer its World Around Us day camp for ages 10-12, 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 11-15. Lessons and activities will range from animal adaptations to identification and classification of plants. One day, starting at 3:30 p.m., will feature evening activities and a campfire. CARBON COUNTY ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION CENTER, 151 E. White Bear Drive, Summit Hill, will host an Outdoor Field Day for ages 5-12, 5:30 p.m. July 7. Guest naturalist Becky Cunfer will lead special events, including team relays, challenges and obstacle course. Outdoor Adventuring Programs for ages 8-12 will be held 9:30 a.m. July 9 and 16.
