NBC10 Hires Social Media Editor

FROM LAURA NACHMAN

From NBC10:

NBC 10 Philadelphia announced today the hiring of Lou Dubois as the Social Media Editor and Strategist. Dubois will oversee reporters, producers and editors use of social media tools to monitor news, report news, find leads and more. Further, he will consult on internal sales and marketing initiatives and how they can utilize social mediums.

“To say we believe strongly in social media is an understatement”, said Chris Blackman, NBC 10 Vice President of News, “It allows us to connect with our viewers like never before. NBC 10’s future is firmly intertwined with social media, and our intention is to seize every opportunity it presents –with Lou leading the way.”

In the newly created role at NBC 10 Philadelphia, Dubois will integrate what he calls “the inherently social makeup of Philadelphians” that presently exists in local neighborhoods and on social networks into broadcast, web and other station properties.

“I am thrilled to join the team at NBC 10,” said Dubois. “We are always looking for ways to further engage with our audience and while social media serves as a great global connector, it’s still all about local communities. We will be a resource for all the news happening around town, even that which we’re not producing, serving as curators, aggregators and navigators in the social space.”

Dubois most recently served as a New York-based senior editor and community manager at Social Media Today. Before joining Social Media Today, he served as a writer and editor with Sports Illustrated’s Custom Publishing group. His previous experience also includes serving as a Senior Writer at Miami-based SOBeFit Magazine and as a contributing sports writer for the Philadelphia bureau of the Associated Press. He remains a contributing writer at writer at Inc. Magazine in New York.
