Rain finally broke the heat and humidity … and postponed most of the American Legion playoffs.
Only Coplay and Northern Valley played amid the dampness and drizzle, with Coplay knocking off the Lehigh Valley Legion regular-season champion in the winners’ bracket semifinals.
Everything else in the LVL and Northampton County Legion postseason was delayed until Saturday.
The LVL schedule for Saturday in the double-elimination tournament:
12:30 p.m.: Lower Macungie vs. Fullerton at Harry Glasser Field (loser is eliminated)
12:30 p.m.: West Allentown vs. South Parkland at Parkland High School (loser is eliminated)
5:30 p.m.: TBA vs. Northern Valley at Northwestern High School
5:30 p.m.: Coplay at Fullerton/Lower Macungie winner.
The Norco best-of-three semifinals are Saturday at 1 p.m.:
No. 1 East Stroudsburg vs. No. 4 Nazareth at Nazareth Boro Park;
No. 3 Birches vs. No. 2 Bath at Cowling Field
Game 2s are Sunday at East Stroudsburg and Birches, respectively.
Game 3s, if necessary, are at East Stroudsburg and Bath, respectively.
