Nazareth Area High School boys lacrosse team defeats Southern Lehigh in first round of District 11 tournament

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

The Nazareth Area High School boys lacrosse team survived a late rally to defeat Southern Lehigh 9-8 in the first round of the District 11 tournament at Andrew Leh Stadium.

Richard Tonnies scored four goals for the Blue Eagles, which won a district playoff game for the first time in school history.

"I'm happy for our seniors," Nazareth coach Kevin Fogerty said. "When they were ninth graders we were 5-14. They saw it when we were really getting pounded and now they get to move on to the semifinals."

Grant Searfoss tallied three goals for Nazareth and Justin Brown added a goal and three assists.

Ryan Kearns and Greg Farris scored three goals apiece for Southern Lehigh.

The Blue Eagles advance to play Emmaus in the semifinals 5 p.m. Wednesday at J. Birney Crum Stadium.
