Is it my week at the shore already? Weather forecast makes it feel like it

Hope you enjoyed all the sunshine we had in the past week, because we may not see that lovely bright blur for awhile.

I just took a peek at the 10-day forecast at weather.com and there's barely an image of a sun in the entire 10-day graphic.Rain Rain2

There's a chance of rain every day right through May 22 -- a minimum 30-percent chance every day and 50 percent or above most days.

This is the kind of weather usually reserved for my weeks at the beach.

Having covered softball for most of the past 30 years, this is nothing new. This is typically a bad weather week that batters the schedule.

And this spring, as we all know, bad weather is the norm.

It's amazing we had all of those days of sun in a row. You knew it was too good to be true. Now, it looks like we're going to pay for it.

I don't know if they're going to get the games in as scheduled, especially since Tuesday is supposed to be the worst weather day of the bunch with a 70 percent chance of rain.

But if they do play, the Colonial League matchups on Tuesday night at Pates Park have Southern Lehigh playing Notre Dame at 5, and Saucon Valley playing Pen Argyl at 7.

While I know that Saucon losing to Southern Lehigh didn't hurt its seeding or take away its division title, I am sure this is not how the Panthers wanted to end their regular season. It had to be a bit of a bummer for Senior Day festivities.

Saucon wanted to keep the winning ways and momentum going, but Southern Lehigh had something to prove and certainly delivered a message that it will be a tough team to beat this week and also in the District 11 tournament to follow.

I commend both leagues, especially softball chairpersons Becky George of Palisades and the Colonial League and Tim Geiger of Dieruff and the Lehigh Valley Conference for again arranging a championship night and putting both league title games on the same night at the same place.

This year, that night is Thursday with the LVC going first at 5, followed by the Colonial League game at 7.

Now the challenge is going to be getting everything played on time, starting with Saturday morning's important Emmaus-Freedom makeup game.

At the very least, the leagues want their champions declared by Sunday, May 22 when the district seeding meeting is held.

Hopefully, the rain will stop by then.
