Hilliard on the money for 38 points in Donofrio Classic finals

FROM KEITH GROLLER

We all know that Liberty's Darrun Hilliard struggled with his shot down the stretch of the recently completed high school boys basketball season.

But the Liberty standout has evidently found the touch again.

The Villanova recruit poured in 38 points in the championship game of the 51st annual Albert C. Donofrio Classic on Tuesday night at the Fellowship House in Conshocken.

Hilliard was playing for Bucks County and earned co-MVP honors along with Devin Coleman of Friends Central and tourney champion I-3 All-Stars.Moneyagain

This is a prestigious tournament featuring dozens of Division I recruits from the Philadelphia-South Jersey region. Hilliard validated his Villanova scholarship and proved he belonged.

He had other outstanding games in the tournament, scoring 22 points against DeStefano Electric and had a 26-point, 14-rebound effort against Team Philly in the tourney quarters.

Allen's Jalen Cannon was also in the tournament and had two quality games for Old School Sports.

He had a 22-point effort and another that featured 17 points and 16 rebounds as Old School went 1-1.

Allen's D.J. Brown, Branden Harrington and R.J. Fletcher were also involved in the tourney as were Jean Lee Baez from Central Catholic, Easton's James Middleton and Liberty's K.J. Williams.
