103 Name Record School Class
1 Darian Cruz 34-2 Beth. Catholic So.
2 Brett Marino 32-3 Liberty Sr.
3 Cody Barbiche 36-0 Delaware Valley Sr.
4 Matt Williams 34-8 Pen Argyl So.
5 Bryan Israel 32-4 Saucon Valley So.

Honorable mention: Fr. Dante Albanese (27-12) Pius X, Fr. Kyle Baker (27-13) Easton, So. Jaryd Flank (22-11) Wilson, Fr. Ethan Lizak (26-9) Parkland, So. Matt Moncourtois (28-10) North Hunterdon, Fr. Dylan Nace (30-7) Hunterdon Central, Fr. Matty Ritchie (23-9) North Warren, Jr. Brandon Sommer (20-15) Northampton.

Notes: Israel comes in at No. 5 - his only losses are to Cruz, Marino and Williams. The top three won their tournaments this weekend in impressive fashion; for Barbiche it was his first Region 5 championship. Nace fell just shy of states. Lizak made D-11 Class AAA final but Israel's losses are much better. Sommer knocked off the No. 1 seed in Class AAA, East Stroudsburg's Colby Ems, though how Ems was the top seed is baffling.

Ryan NicotraRyan Nicotra
112 Name Record School Class
1 Zeke Moisey 35-5 Beth. Catholic Fr.
2 Anthony Cabrera 31-3 Liberty Sr.
3 Gary Dinmore 30-1 Hunterdon Central Fr.
4 Ryan Nicotra 33-3 Hackettstown Sr.
5 DeMarquis Holley 30-4 Dieruff Jr.

Honorable mention: Fr. Pat Antonacci (27-5) Central Catholic, So. Anthony Dee (21-10) Salisbury, So. Ian Evans (24-16) Parkland, Fr. Josh Evans (27-5) Palmerton, Fr. Justin Pidoto (25-13) Warren Hills, Jr. Peter Stanley (24-15) Easton, Fr. Vinnie Vonelli (26-10) Pius X, Sr. Jamie Welsh (29-8) Pen Argyl, Fr. Chase Zemenak (28-14) Nazareth.

Notes: The top four here are district/regional champs, and Nicotra's very impressive run through Region 1 lifts him just slightly above Dinmore for the third. Holley's drop and second-place in D-11 Class AAA knocks Zemenak to HM for now. Moisey dominated D-11 Class AA with three pins and a major. Dee and Evans split two bouts at D-11 Class AA, Evans winning the one for third. Antonacci went UP for the postseason.

Mike FleckExpress-Times photoMike Fleck
119 Name Record School Class
1 Randy Cruz 37-5 Beth. Catholic Jr.
2 Mike Pongracz 36-1 Delaware Valley So.
3 Evan Disora 26-8 Easton So.
4 Grimaldi Gonzales 25-8 Liberty So.
4 Mike Fleck 5-2 Wilson Sr.

Honorable mention: Jr. Joseph Dalessandro (23-13) Pius X, Sr. Lucas Dise (25-5) Northern Lehigh, Jr. James Elphick (12-9) Pen Argyl, So. Paul Hetrick (16- 16) Northampton, So. Andrew Kaluzny (22-17) Phillipsburg, So. Tyler Kozimor (21-7) Hackettstown, So. Mike Rodgers (28-10), Central Catholic, So. Jesse Thorsen (25-11) Belvidere

Notes: Drops and injuries shake up the top 5, so welcome Gonzales (3rd in D-11 AAA) and Fleck (2nd in D-11 AA), the ex-Easton wrestler, to the top 5. Elphick surprised for 4th in D-11 AA. Pongracz utterly dominated Region 5 and could be an Atlantic City darkhorse. .

Franco FerrainaFranco Ferraina
125 Name Record School Class
1 Franco Ferraina 29-3 Nazareth Sr.
2 Dylan Thorsen 36-2 Belvidere Jr.
3 Devon Lotito 31-5 Liberty Jr.
4 Zane Heller 25-5 No. Lehigh Jr.
5 Robbie Rizzolino 31-10 Easton
So.

Honorable mention: Sr. Chris Davis (30-8) Voorhees, Sr. Mike Fake (19-6) Parkland, Sr. Josh Fritz (23-10) Emmaus, Jr. Sam Oberlander (26-7) Palmerton, Sr. Jaydon Rice (29-10) Bethlehem Catholic, So. Brandon Rothman (19-14) Hackettstown, Jr. Paul Sloand (24-12) Saucon Valley.

Notes: Shakeups all over here. Ferraina's D-11 AAA title jumps him to the top spot with Thorsen finished 3rd in Region 1 but a strong state showing could move the County Seater back up. Heller rallied from a 7-1 deficit in the D-11 AA final to beat Rice 9-8 and take Rice's Top 5 spot. As usual Lotito thumps everybody but Ferraina. Fritz beat Rizzolino 6-4 in a D-11 quarterfinal but then didn't win another match and Rizzolino keeps a top-5 spot on body of work.
Calvin DalyCalvin Daly
130 Name Record School Class
1 Zach Horan 42-0 Nazareth Sr.
2 Matt Lane 32-6 Phillipsburg Sr.
3 Vince Pellechia 33-2 Catasauqua Jr.
4 Rich Cruz 24-11 Bethlehem Catholic Jr.
5 Calvin Daly 28-12 Easton Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Matt Boylan (21-14) Hunterdon Central, Sr. George Dalessandro (24-13) Pius X, 5. So. Matt Ortiz (22-8) Northwestern Lehigh, Jr. Javier Rivas (24-8) Dieruff, So. Mason Ryzoff (18-10) North Warren, Sr. Forest Touchberry (20-12) Parkland.

Notes: Pellechia dropped here and beat Cruz en route to D-11 Class AA runner-up spot and forces his way in at No. 3. The top two seem set in stone with Lane's Region 1 title. Horan became first four-time Nazareth district champ. Too bad an injury ended Ryzoff's postseason run, he exuded promise. Daly returns to Top 5 after third place finish at D-11. Cruz's two wins over Ortiz oust the Tiger from top 5.

Joey RizzolinoJoey Rizzolino
135 Name Record School Class
1 Mike Racciato 41-2 Pen Argyl So.
2 Joey Rizzolino 37-5 Easton Sr.
3 Greg Noll 35-8 Nazareth Sr.
4 Derek Zehnbauer 32-6 Delaware Valley Jr.
5 Damien Hopper 26-2 Central Catholic Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Colby Barrett (19-9) Pius X, So. Mike Marano (22-17) Parkland, So. Eric Matz (24-9) Catasauqua, Jr. Aaron Morekin (26-8) Whitehall, Jr. Jason Stephen (30-10) Northampton, Sr. Nikko Stevens (22-7) Northern Lehigh, Sr. Tye Vallone (17-11) Southern Lehigh.

Notes: Quite a traffic jam in D-11 AA as Barrett, Matz and Stevens dropped from 140 while Hopper came up from 130, all rather mysterious as none of them were beating the dominant Racciato. Stevens had been No. 5 at 140 but 2-2 district run leaves him out of top group here. Zehnbauer made states with a third-place finish at Region 5. Rizzolino topped Noll in D-11 final..

Zack WilsonZack Wilson
140 Name Record School Class
1 Mitch Minotti 37-2 Easton Jr.
2 Zack Wilson 24-11 Northampton Sr.
3 Ryan Todora 32-8 Beth. Catholic So.
4 Ronnie Honickel 35-1 Voorhees Sr.
5 Luciano Burriesci 35-10 Pen Argyl Sr.

Honorable mention: Jr. Bryson Berard (17-16) Parkland, Sr. Billy Butka (24-13) Warren Hills, Sr. Paul Schwartz (17-12) Freedom, Sr. Eric Seals (20-12) Allen, Sr. Rylan Watson (28-12) Phillipsburg.

Notes: At some point January losses can be forgiven and such is now the case with Honickel, now the Region 5 champ, and his defeat by Watson, who was pinned in the Region 1 third-place match. Todora pinned Burriesci in the D-11 final to wrap up the Golden Hawks' team title. Wilson was a strong third at D-11 Class AAA but Todora and Honickel are right on his tail. Minotti cruised in D-11 with two majors and two pins.

Cole SheptockCole Sheptock
145 Name Record School Class
1 John Lynch 29-4 Saucon Valley Sr.
2 Chris Cancelliere 33-4 North Hunterdon Sr.
3 Cole Sheptock 27-6 Northampton Jr.
4 Ty Herzog 26-5 No. Lehigh So.
5 Anthony Minotti 25-9 Easton Sr.

Honorable mention: So. Tyler Cote (19-8) Hunterdon Central, Jr. Steven Baker (23-10) Voorhees, Jr. Victor Embardino (22-9) Notre Dame-Green Pond, Sr. Matt Gotzon (18-8) Southern Lehigh, Sr. Justin Heller (23-8) Parkland, Sr. John Kelly (16-11) Bangor, Sr. Kyle Kilpatrick (19-11) Wilson, Sr. Josh LaBar (32-7) Pius X, Sr. Rex Lutz (28-10) Pen Argyl, Jr. Joe Meyer (18-18) Phillipsburg, So. Josh Young (19-8) Freedom.

Notes: We said Lynch would have to be good at D-11 to keep No. 1 here and since he won the district title, that's plenty good for us, and Cancelliere's second at Region 5 keeps him No. 2. Behind that, changes galore. Sheptock defeated Gotzon and Minotti en route to the D-11 crown, and Minotti pinned Heller. Herzog dropped from 145 to beat LaBar twice, who had beaten Lutz (who also won his 100th career match at districts). So, a whole new order at 3rd- 5th and much could still change here.

Mason McIntyreMason McIntyre
152 Name Record School Class
1 Mason McIntyre 22-1 Easton Sr.
2 Bobby Clymer 28-4 Northwestern Sr.
3 Dan Brockerhoff 28-10 Phillipsburg Sr.
4 John Lambert 28-5 Northampton Sr.
5 Beau Vrancken 33-4 North Hunterdon Jr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Matt Bonshak (23-7) Whitehall, Sr. Chris Carey (30-6) Hunterdon Central, Sr. Kyle Dehaut (25-9) Bethlehem Catholic, So. Travis Buddock (19-8) Saucon Valley, Sr. Luke Gotzon (23-5) Southern Lehigh, So. Connor Hedash (18-10) Northern Lehigh, Jr. Mike Staufenberger (20-10) North Warren, Sr. Mike Rogers (22-15) Delaware Valley, Sr. Jason Rothman (22-6) Hackettstown, Sr. Solomon Sohn (12-7) Easton.

Notes: McIntyre is sidelined with a season-ending injury but is so dominant here he keeps the spot in a rare but not unprecedented decision. Behind him, Clymer won D-11 AA as the Outstanding Wrestler, Lambert was D-11 AAA champ, Vrancken the Region 5 champ and Brockerhoff the Region 1 runner-up. Clymer gets the second spot for now and Brockerhoff No. 3 as the Stateliner has beaten the next two plus Carey. Vrancken's regional win eclipses the district-final pin by Carey for now. Buddock and Sohn were very impressive thirds in D-11.

Jadaen BernsteinJadaen Bernstein
160 Name Record School Class
1 Mike Ottinger 26-2 Parkland Sr.
2 Elliot Riddick 34-6 Bethlehem Catholic Jr.
3 Ryan Krecker 28-2 Nazareth Sr.
4 Jadaen Bernstein 36-0 Voorhees So.
5 Jon Blank 27-3 Notre Dame Jr.

Honorable mention: Jr. Billy Christensen (22-5) Wilson, Jr. Anthony Clifford (22-12) Central Catholic, Jr. Nathan Dow (33-7) Belvidere, Jr. V.J. Delmonico (25-15) Phillipsburg, So. Dave Fenton (19-15) Hunterdon Central, Sr. Tim Kunkel (21-12) Northampton, Jr. Justin Marsh (24-4) Palisades, Jr. JD Rabenold (19-14) Pen Argyl, Sr. Kyle Sorensen (26-9) Northwestern.

Notes: The top three are a combined 5-5 against each other this season after Ottinger's dramatic ultimate-tiebreaker win in the D-11 final over Krecker. But now that Ottinger can be moved ahead of Krecker, he also passes Riddick on head-to-head, though Riddick looked awesome in winning D-11 AA. That seems unfair, and a nagging voice tells us we are grossly underestimating Bernstein, yet here we are. So nothing settled here at all yet. Marsh beat three fellow HMs (Sorensen, Clifford and Rabenold) to finish 3rd in D-11 AA after he was pinned in a semi by Blank. Dow might be one of the best New Jersey wrestlers not to make states.

Will Van DorenWill Van Doren
171 Name Record School Class
1 Colin Hedash 27-2 Northern Lehigh Sr.
2 Will Van Doren 31-7 Delaware Valley Jr.
3 Tyler Horn 35-9 Pen Argyl Sr.
4 Ray O'Donnell 32-5 Saucon Valley So.
5 Jake Maffucci 27-4 Hunterdon Central Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Zack Bambary (15-13) Easton, So. Evan Bray (19-12) Belvidere, So. Liam Korbul (20-16) North Hunterdon, Jr. Levi Veppert (27-7) Northwestern, Fr. Jose Ortiz (16-7) Bethlehem Catholic, Fr. Jovon Reyes (20-5) Dieruff, Jr. Eric Wolak (21-9) Nazareth.

Notes: What had been a nice, quiet class suddenly erupted in chaos this weekend as Van Doren decked Maffucci in the ultimate tiebreaker (don't see pins in 7:20 every day) in the Region 5 third-place bout, Horn was shocked in a D-11 AA quarterfinal, O'Donnell gave Hedash all he could ask for in D-11 AA final and Bambary edged Reyes in a D-11 AAA semifinal. Horn has beaten O'Donnell twice so he stays ahead there.

Evan KauffmanEvan Kauffman
189 Name Record School Class
1 Ian Gimbar 34-2 Saucon Valley Sr.
2 Dylan Evans 27-10 Pen Argyl Jr.
3 Troy Newhard/td> 25-6 Emmaus Sr.
4
Evan Kauffman 14-4 Freedom So.
5 Cory Bruder 22-7 Parkland Sr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Zach Bohn (31-7) Voorhees, Sr. Ben Bradley (20-11) Nazareth, Jr. Luke Garner (28-3) Catasauqua, Fr. Fuad Haddad (18-10) Whitehall, Sr. Kyle Kathenes (25-9) Hackettstown, Jr. Marcus Newsom (23-9) Northampton, Jr. Anthony Pare (17-11) Phillipsburg.

Notes: Evans gave Gimbar a spirited 7-4 match in the D-11 AA final and keeps his spot ahead of D-11 Class AAA champ Newhard, who'd have been ranked before but for the season-long information blackout on Green Hornet wrestlers. Kauffman came back from his sixth dislocated kneecap to take second at D-11 AAA. Newsom, who was sixth, did not have a good tournament. Bruder's third at D-11 earns him No. 5 here ahead of Bohn, 4th at Region 5.

Brandon Hull headshotBrandon Hull
215 Name Record School Class
1 Brandon Hull 31-6 Phillipsburg Jr.
2 Tarik Haddad 21-3 Parkland Sr.
3 Tyler Greene 32-8 Easton So.
4 Kyle Nerger 30-8 North Hunterdon Sr.
5 David Wilke 27-12 Nazareth Jr.

Honorable mention: So. Josh Alpha (23-10) Bethlehem Catholic, So. Dennis Atiyeh (15-9) Notre Dame, Jr. Ryan Barry (28-13) Pen Argyl, Sr. Brian Guevara (27-7) Voorhees, Jr. Kane Kralik (23-8) Palmerton, Jr. Dan Smith (30-9) Warren Hills.

Notes: Northampton's Nick Sharga's move to 285 opens a spot here for Wilke, third in D-11 AAA, to join the top 5; he owns a 1-0 win over Alpha, who topped Kralik in OT for third place in D-11 AA. Haddad held off Greene 5-3 in a dandy D-11 final. Hull fell in Region 1 final but keeps his spot for now. Nerger beat Guevara at Region 5.

Jack DeliaJack Delia
285 Name Record School Class
1 Jack Delia 35-0 North Hunterdon Sr.
2 Nick Sharga 33-5 Northampton Jr.
2 Jalal Paige 37-5 Easton Sr.
4 Aaron Bradley 23-4 Nazareth So.
5 Shaquone Williams 31-8 Pius X Jr.

Honorable mention: Sr. Steven Farr (26-8) Dieruff, Sr. Sean Fortes (17-12) Freedom, Sr. Steve Giraldo (29-8) Hackettstown, Sr. Shaun Heist (22-11) Parkland, So. Chris Longyhore (16-13) North Warren, Jr. Kirby Mutton (29-8) Pen Argyl, So. Daulton Romeo (19-9) Southern Lehigh, Jr. Andrew Romeo (18-8) Bangor, So. Michael Williams (18-11) Notre Dame.

Notes: Delia posted an eight-second pin of Piscataway's Beniah Harrigan en route to a Region 5 crown and enters the New Jersey state tournament as No. 1 seed in his bracket. Sharga came up from 215 to win D-11 AAA, beating Paige (albeit with some controversy) and Bradley en route to snatch the No. 2 spot. Williams pinned everybody at D-11 AA but champ Ben Ancheff to hold off Mutton (the runner-up) for No. 5. A Paige-Sharga regional rematch would be lively.
