Easton Area High School graduate Jordan Oliver wins NCAA wrestling championship

FROM THE EXPRESS TIMES

Easton Area High School graduate Jordan Oliver won the NCAA wrestling championship at 133 pounds for Oklahoma State Saturday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.

Oliver, the top seed at 133 and 29-0 on the year, won his first national title 8-4 over No. 2 seed Andrew Hochstrasser of Boise State.

He becomes the first Red Rover alum to win a national title since Jack Cuvo, who won in 1989 for East Stroudsburg, and just the second Easton alum to win overall.

Oliver fired out from the opening whistle, scored a takedown 10 seconds into the match and controlled Hochstrasser from there. Another takedown and back points made it 6-2 at the end of the first period.

Oliver chose neutral to start the second period, added a second-period takedown and led 8-3 after two periods.
