Veteran catcher and 1995 Northampton Area High School graduate Brian Schneider is not currently with the Philadelphia Phillies. The backup to Carlos Ruiz has left camp for personal reasons.
No further information on the reason for the departure was given and no timetable was provided for when Schneider would return.
In his absence, Dane Sardinha and Erik Kratz will back up Ruiz. The Phillies play spring training game No. 21 this afternoon against Toronto.
Schneider has played in nine games this spring and was hitting .286 with two home runs and four RBI in 21 at-bats.
