When you think of a school, what sports names comes to mind?

I was at Salisbury last night. Good game, big win for the Falcons.

Some people are excited about next week's ceremony to name the court in Bill Paulik's honor. Well, well deserved, and overdue in my opinion.

Even though he hasn't coached in 18 years, when I think of Salisbury, I first think of Paulik. He's the first person that comes to mind.

And, it got me thinking about how I associate all schools with certain people.

Schools aren't just made of bricks and mortar, they are made up of people and some of them we never forget even long after they're retired and off the stage.

These people aren't necessarily the greatest or the best at each school and I am sure they change from person to person based on your age and what sports you're most interested in.

And it doesn't have to be an athlete or coach that comes to mind first. It could be an athletic director, a scorekeeper, an announcer, trainer, even a fan. There are no right and wrong answers to this because it comes down to who has impacted your life the most and as a member of the media people certainly impact me in different ways than the average fan.

But playing the name association game, here are the people that pop instantly into my mind when I think of an area school -- again remembering that I am primarily someone who covers football, basketball and softball and have been covering sports around here since the early 80s and watching local sports since I was about five years old in 1966.
