Seeds set for District 11 team wrestling duals

Easton and Bethlehem Catholic are the top seeds for the District 11 wrestling duals, scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Freedom.

Easton and Nazareth are the top two seeds in Class 3A. Last year, No. 4 Easton edged top-seeded Nazareth 31-29 in the semifinals on the way to its ninth district duals title.

Defending champ Pen Argyl, which recently clinched its third consecutive Colonial League title, is the No. 2 seed behind Bethlehem Catholic in Class 2A. The top two teams in each class advance to next week's PIAA Duals.

A pair of first-time qualifiers will participate: Palmerton is seeded fifth in Class 2A, and Southern Lehigh is the No. 10 seed in 3A.

Wrestling begins with first-round matches at 4:30 p.m. Friday, followed by the quarterfinals at 6 and 7:45. Semifinals are scheduled for 11 a.m. (2A) and 1 p.m. (3A) Saturday, followed by both championship matches at 6 p.m.

4:30 p.m.: No. 7 Blue Mountain vs. No. 10 Southern Lehigh; No. 8 East Stroudsburg South vs. No. 9 Dieruff.

QUARTERFINALS

6 p.m.: No. 3 Parkland vs. No. 6 Pleasant Valley; No. 4 Northampton vs. No. 5 Stroudsburg.

7:45 p.m.: No. 1 Easton vs. East Stroudsburg South/Dieruff winner; No. 2 Nazareth vs. Blue Mountain/Southern Lehigh winner.

SATURDAY

1 p.m.: Semifinals.

6 p.m.: Championship match.

FRIDAY

4:30 p.m.: No. 7 Pine Grove vs. No. 10 Central Catholic; No. 8 Lehighton vs. No. 9 Pius X.

QUARTERFINALS

7:45 p.m.: No. 1 Bethlehem Catholic vs. Lehighton/Pius X winner; No. 2 Pen Argyl vs. Pine Grove/Central Catholic winner.

SATURDAY

11 a.m.: Semifinals.
